Club NYC Community Rules
Early access This is a plain-language policy for a game in early access.
The Short Version
- Be a good neighbor: kind, welcoming and PG-13.
- Keep real-life info private (yours and everyone else’s), and never ask for it.
- Play fair: no cheating, bots, scams or spam.
- Spot trouble? Click the player, then Report.
- Break the rules and you may get a warning, a mute, a suspension or a ban. Serious harm means a permanent ban.
- These rules cover everything in Club NYC, including chat, names, outfits and guestbook notes. They’re part of our Terms of Service.
1 Be a Good Neighbor
Millions of New Yorkers share the same sidewalks every day, and it works because neighbors look out for each other. Club NYC is the same. Say hi, help newcomers find their way around, cheer on the dancers in Times Square, and disagree without being mean.
2 No Harassment, Bullying or Hate
- Don’t insult, threaten, embarrass or gang up on anyone.
- If someone asks you to leave them alone, do it. Don’t follow them around the city.
- No hate, ever. Never attack or make fun of anyone because of their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age, or anything else about who they are.
Threats and hate count as serious harm.
3 Keep It PG-13
- No sexual content of any kind, whether in chat, names, outfits or guestbook notes. No sexual roleplay.
- No online dating. Club NYC is for hanging out with friends, not for finding a boyfriend or girlfriend.
- No slurs or strong swearing. The chat filter hides most of it, so don’t try to sneak around it with spaces, symbols or misspellings.
- A good rule of thumb: if it wouldn’t fly in a PG-13 movie, it doesn’t fly here.
4 Keep Personal Info Private
Your real life stays off the map.
- Never share personal info, whether it’s yours or anyone else’s. That means real names, home addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, social media accounts, your school, or where you’ll be in real life.
- Never ask anyone for theirs, and don’t ask people to chat somewhere else or to meet up in real life.
- The chat filter removes links, email addresses and phone numbers automatically. Don’t try to get around it.
Don’t answer. Block them and report them; that’s exactly what those buttons are for. Sharing someone’s personal info (doxxing) counts as serious harm.
5 No Scams, Phishing or “Free Coins”
- Coins can’t be bought or sold. Anyone offering “free coins” in exchange for your sign-in, your info or anything else is running a scam.
- Don’t trick anyone into giving up their account, items or personal info, and don’t share fake sign-in pages.
- Club NYC staff will never ask for your Google, X or Discord password, or for a sign-in link we emailed you.
6 Play Fair
- No cheating, no hacking and no tampering with the game.
- No exploiting bugs. Found one? Tell us at [CONTACT EMAIL] instead.
- No bots, scripts or automated play. Leaderboards are for real New Yorkers.
- No extra accounts to farm coins, invites or team points.
7 Be Yourself
- Don’t pretend to be Club NYC staff or a moderator, and don’t pick a name that makes it look like you are one.
- Don’t pretend to be another player, for example by copying their name with a small change.
8 No Spam or Flooding
Keep the streets clean.
- Don’t send the same thing over and over, post walls of random characters, or flood the chat.
- Don’t advertise other games, sites or channels.
- If you send lots of messages too quickly, your chat is muted automatically for a short time.
9 Names and Outfits Count Too
These rules apply to everything you create in the game: your New Yorker’s name, your outfit and the notes you leave in guestbooks.
- Names can’t be rude, sexual or hateful. They can’t include personal info (like your real full name), and they can’t copy staff or other players.
- Don’t put outfits together to make something that breaks these rules.
- Moderators can reset names that break the rules.
10 Report Problems
See something that breaks the rules? Don’t argue back. Report it instead.
- Report: click the player, then Report on their player card. Pick what’s going on: someone being mean or bullying, inappropriate chat, an inappropriate name or outfit, someone asking for personal info, or something else. Moderators see your report along with that player’s recent chat.
- Block: you won’t see them, their chat or friend requests from them. They won’t be told.
- Mute: hides a player’s chat (click them, then Mute). The speaker button on the toolbar turns all game sounds off.
If you or someone else might be in danger, contact local emergency services right away (911 in the US). If you’re under 18, tell a trusted adult too.
11 What Happens If Rules Are Broken
We want this to be clear and fair, so here’s exactly how it works.
Automatic Protections
- The chat filter removes links, email addresses and phone numbers, and masks slurs and strong swearing.
- If you send too many messages too fast, your chat is muted for a short time.
- If several different players report someone within an hour, that player’s chat can be paused automatically for 30 minutes until a moderator reviews it.
What Moderators Can Do
- Warning A heads-up about what went wrong.
- Mute No chatting for a while, for example 1 hour or 24 hours.
- Suspension No playing for a while, for example 1 or 7 days.
- Permanent ban The account is closed for good.
How far up the ladder we go depends on what happened and whether it has happened before. Moderators can also reset names that break the rules.
These skip the ladder. They lead to an immediate permanent ban and, where required, a report to the relevant authorities:
- threats of violence or harm
- hate, meaning attacking people for who they are
- sexual content involving anyone who appears to be a minor
- doxxing, meaning sharing someone’s personal info
- grooming, meaning trying to win a young person’s trust in order to exploit or abuse them

Think we got it wrong? Email [CONTACT EMAIL] with your in-game name and tell us what happened. We’ll take another look.
Thanks for being a good neighbor. See you around the city!
