Make Your New Yorker
Pick a look, spin a name and walk into the city. It takes about 30 seconds, and you can change your look any time.
Making your New Yorker takes two quick screens. Your look can be changed later from your player card, so don’t overthink it. This is New York: nobody’s looking at you anyway.
Step 1: Pick a Look
The first screen asks Who’s walking into Manhattan?

- Start from a look. Click one of the eight ready-made outfits.
- Surprise me. The dice button rolls a random skin, hair and colors.
- Skin, Hair and Hair Color. Click through the rows to change each one.
- Your color. The ring of dots around your New Yorker sets your signature color, like Taxi Yellow, Hydrant Red, Bodega Blue or Pigeon Grey. Point at a dot to see its name. Your color shows up on your signature hoodie and around the city.
When you like what you see, press That’s Me.
Step 2: Pick a Name
The second screen asks What do New Yorkers call you?

- Spin a name. Two wheels pair a word with a very New York word, like “LuckyPigeon”, “RooftopKnish” or “DJPretzel”. Click the arrows or scroll the wheels, or press the dice button to spin both.
- Or type your own. Up to 14 characters.
- A green check means the name is yours. If it’s taken, spin again or add a number.
Name Rules
- 2 to 14 characters: letters, numbers and underscores (
_) only. - Every name is unique, so if someone already has it, you’ll need another.
- Names are checked by the same filter as chat. Keep it friendly: see names and outfits.
- Your name is what everyone in the city sees on your name tag.
Step 3: Your Birthday and the Rules
Club NYC is for ages 13 and up. Before you walk in:
- Pick your birth month and year. We only use them to check your age, and we don’t keep them.
- Tick the box to agree to the Terms, Privacy Policy and Community Rules.
- Press Walk into the City. Your MetroCard prints and you’re in.
What You Start With
- 50 coins to get you going.
- Your outfit from the look you picked, in your wardrobe.
- A free welcome gift, waiting at Sal’s hot dog cart in Times Square (a cap, beanie, shades, foam crown or MetroCard lanyard). If your starting look already came with one of those, Sal will happily sell you a hot dog instead.
- A MetroCard with your name and member number. When it flips in at the corner, click it to save a picture of it.
Changing Your Look Later
Press P (or click yourself) to open your player card:
- Wardrobe tab: everything you own. Click to wear it.
- Look tab: skin, hair, hair color and your color.
Your name can’t be changed by you after it’s set. If a moderator resets a name that breaks the rules, you’ll be asked to pick a new one.
