The jobs are solo. These three games are for playing with each other: short rounds of one to two minutes with whoever’s around, and a rematch one click away. Nobody around? City locals fill the empty seats, so you can always play.

Finding a Game

You can join from anywhere:

  • The Games tab. Press F (or Friends & Leaderboards on the toolbar) and open Games.
  • A sign in the city. Click a game’s sign to walk over and open its card. While you’re nearby, it shows who’s waiting.
  • A code. Got a 4 letter code from a friend? Type it into Got a code? on the Games tab and press Join.
  • A link or an invite. A friend’s game link (or an invite notice with Join) takes you straight to their lobby.
The Games tab in the Community panel: three game cards with Quick Match, Create Lobby and Leaderboard buttons, and a box for a friend's code.
The Games tab: play with whoever’s around, or with the city locals.

Quick Match or Create Lobby

  • Quick Match drops you into an open public lobby (one with your friends first, then the busiest), or opens a new one. It starts by itself: 15 seconds after someone else joins, or 25 seconds if you’re on your own (city locals fill in). If everyone presses Ready, it starts right away.
  • Create Lobby opens an invite-only lobby and makes you the host. You choose Free-for-All or Uptown vs Downtown, City Locals On or Off, Public or Invite Only, and when to start. The host can also remove someone. If the host leaves, the longest-seated player takes over.

The Lobby

A High Line Citi Bike Dash lobby: the code and Copy Link at the top, the players and open seats, how to play, the settings, Start with Locals, and quick reactions along the bottom.
A lobby: the code, the seats, how to play, and a big button that says what it does.
  • The code and Copy Link at the top are for your friends. Invite sends online friends a notice with a Join button.
  • The big button always says what it does: Start Race, Ready, Take a Seat, Play Again. Enter presses it.
  • Start with Locals starts right now, with city locals in the empty seats.
  • Reactions and phrases (👋 🔥 😂 👏, “GG!”, “One More?”, “So Close!”, “Rematch!”) pop up over your seat. No typing needed.
  • Hide keeps your seat and shrinks the lobby to a chip at the top of the city, so you can walk around. It pops back up when your round starts.
  • Leave is always on screen. Esc leaves a lobby, and in the middle of a race it asks first.

Joining Late, Leaving, and Rematches

  • Arrived mid-round? You watch, then get a seat for the next round.
  • After a match, everyone who played sees the results and sits out until they press Play Again, so nobody gets pulled into a race mid-read.
  • Dropped connection? Your lobby seat waits 25 seconds for you, and mid-race you have 12 seconds to come back.

Prizes

The city decides every result, so places, prizes and leaderboards are always fair. Everyone who plays a match through gets coins and XP. Leaving early pays nothing, and a match that ends too quickly doesn’t count.

  • XP: 20 for playing a match through, plus 30 for 1st, 15 for 2nd or 5 for 3rd when you have rivals. A winning team counts as 1st. Levels & XP
  • Daily limit: game prizes top out at 300 coins a day, separate from job pay.

Leaderboards

Every game has its own board, for wins and for best score, this week (resets Monday) or all time, for everyone or just your friends. You’ll find it with the Leaderboard button in a lobby, the top 5 on the results screen, and on the Games tab. A win only counts against a real New Yorker. Best scores always count.
